🧰 Miscellaneous Tools

Калькулятор ІМТ, калькулятор віку та інші корисні утиліти

A handful of tools that do not belong anywhere else: body metrics, a drinks calculator, an age converter and a typing speed test.

Mixed bag by design. They exist because they were needed and did not fit an existing category.

BMI was never designed to assess an individual

The formula comes from Adolphe Quetelet in the 1830s, who was describing populations and explicitly said it should not be used to judge any one person. It went into individual clinical use much later, largely because it is cheap to compute from two numbers anyone can measure.

Its central limitation is that it cannot distinguish muscle from fat, so athletes are routinely classified overweight while someone sedentary with low muscle mass can sit mid-range with a poor metabolic profile. It also ignores where weight sits, and abdominal fat carries more risk than the same mass elsewhere — which is why waist-to-height ratio predicts outcomes better and takes no longer to measure.

Read as one rough population-level number among several, it is informative. Read as a verdict on a person's health, it is not, and this tool is not medical advice.
