Tool öffnen →Solar system reference and sky-position tools: planetary data side by side, a scale model that shows how empty space really is, and the moon phase for any date.
These lean visual, because the numbers alone do not communicate the thing. "Neptune is 4.5 billion km away" means very little until a scale model puts it on the far side of a town.
Which tool do I want?
| If you… | Use |
|---|---|
| You want planetary data compared | Planetenvergleich |
| You want a sense of true distances | Sonnensystem-Maßstab |
| You need the moon phase for a date | Mondphase |
Every diagram of the solar system lies about one axis
No printed diagram can be to scale in both size and distance. Shrink the Sun to a football and Earth becomes a grain of sand 25 metres away, with Neptune three-quarters of a kilometre out. Any picture that fits on a page has quietly compressed distance by orders of magnitude while leaving the planets legible.
That distortion produces a specific misconception: that the solar system is crowded, and that planetary alignments are common and mechanically significant. It is overwhelmingly empty. The Voyager probes crossed the asteroid belt with no meaningful risk of hitting anything.
The moon has an inverted version of the same problem. It is tidally locked, so we always see the same face — but the far side is not the dark side. It gets exactly as much sunlight, on the same monthly cycle; we simply never see it lit.
